Why Savan Group
As an MBA student focusing on agribusiness and sustainability, I was initially drawn to Savan Group because of their fascinating work with the USDA’s National Organic Program. I was excited to explore the opportunity to be on the front lines of agricultural policy. After meeting with the team, I was hooked; the firm’s commitment to building a better government was inspiring, and I recognized another opportunity in the ability to work with such a dedicated and intelligent group of people.
What I Appreciate About Our Clients
The current “elephant in the room” for all federal agencies is the extreme budget reduction that’s expected over the next few years. Many offices will be forced to do more with less. However, this presents a unique opportunity for consultants like us – I like to think that with the help of Savan Group, leaders in government will be able to exceed expectations even in a fiscally constrained environment.
Wow Impact Moment
This is my first experience working for the federal government, and it has been eye-opening. Right away, I recognized that the checks and balances essential for protecting individual freedoms and the foundation of our democracy are the primary cause of government’s “slow” movement relative to the private sector – rather than any of the criticisms thrown around in public dialogue. This process has been intriguing to learn about, and I have gained a deep respect for the remarkable institution that keeps our country safe and stable.
Off the Clock
I am an amateur chef, so can usually be found in my kitchen cooking up something delicious with local ingredients. I also volunteer at DC’s Dupont Circle farmers market and am an experienced yoga practitioner. To round out my ongoing MBA education, I do pro bono business consulting for sustainably-oriented food and agriculture companies.
